Today we’re going to find the code for twin pregnancy in the ICD-10 book.
VIDEO
Don’t want to watch the video? Here are the steps:
The first thing you do is go to P in the index.
Find the word pregnancy and then underneath that read down the page till you find the word twin.
Then underneath that you’ll see that there’s different choices based on the number of placentas and amniotic sacs.
For this example let’s look at the default code which is 030.00.
Then go to O in the tabular and Find code 030.00.
Add the 6th character. It is based on the trimester
For the first trimester it’s code 030.001
If it’s the second trimester it’s 030.002
For the third trimester it’s o30.003 and 030.009 if it’s an unspecified trimester.
