Were you able to code this? In this example you have to add the seventh character to the end of the code. Did you know that the A for initial encounter can be used more than once? The A is for active treatment. The wording of it (initial encounter) can confuse people though because they think that means it can be only coded one time (at the first visit). But that is not true. As long as the patient is receiving active treatment for the spider bite–you can code it 🙂 PS-There’s still time to sign up for September’s Medical Coding Study Groups!
